Solution Overview
The Battery Management System (BMS) validation solution from GigaDevice is based on the GD32A74x series MCU, which complies with the ASIL-D functional safety standard and the Evita-Full + SM2/3/4 information security standards. The solution supports a wide voltage input range of 9V-24V and employs an ASIL-D safety level SBC to supply power to the MCU and onboard peripheral chips, as well as an external watchdog. Communication with the master MCU is achieved via the SPI bus (daisy chain), supporting sleep wakeup and fault detection to fulfill the functional safety requirements for battery management.
The solution provides standard interfaces for bridge chips, which connect to AFE chips to sample and monitor the status of battery cells. The 4-channel daisy chain design offers excellent scalability and is compatible with domestic and international manufacturer solutions. It supports high-voltage insulation detection, maintenance switch, high-voltage interlock loop, and battery pressure monitoring. Equipped with domestically-produced high-side and low-side driver chips, it supports up to 4 high-side drivers and 8 low-side drivers. It provides dual DC motor control for cooling fans and electric lock control of charging plugs. The solution offers up to 3 CAN/CAN-FD connections to meet communication needs with other in-vehicle modules, and error information detected by the BMS can be sent to the vehicle's instruments through the IO port.
